Qcd Phase Diagram for Small Densities from Simulations at Imaginary Μ

چکیده
We present results on the QCD phase diagram for small densities without reweighting. Our simulations are performed with an imaginary chemical potential µI for which the fermion determinant is positive. On an 8 3 × 4 lattice with 2 flavors of staggered quarks, we map out the pseudo-critical temperature Tc(µI). For µI /T ≤ π/3, this is an analytic function whose Taylor expansion converges rapidly, with truncation errors smaller than statistical ones. The result is analytically continued to give the location of the pseudo-critical line for real µB < ∼ 500 MeV.

The QCD phase diagram for small densities from imaginary chemical potential
We present results on the QCD phase diagram for μB ≤ πT . Our simulations are performed with an imaginary chemical potential μI for which the fermion determinant is positive. On an 83 × 4 lattice with 2 flavors of staggered quarks, we map out the phase diagram and identify the pseudo-critical temperature Tc(μI). For μI/T ≤ π/3, this is an analytic function, whose Taylor expansion is found to co...

We demonstrate how to locate the critical endpoint of the QCD phase transition by means of simulations at imaginary µ. For the three flavor theory, we present numerical results for the pseudo-critical line as a function of chemical potential and bare quark mass, as well as the bare quark mass dependence of the endpoint.

A brief review is given of the sign problem in finite density lattice QCD and various attempts to overcome it. To date there is still no solution to this problem which would work for realistic QCD. The main focus then is on the deconfined phase, where QCD can be described by a dimensionally reduced effective action. After summarizing derivation and validity of the effective theory, it is demons...
متن کاملConstraining the QCD phase diagram by tricritical lines at imaginary chemical potential.
We present unambiguous evidence, from lattice simulations of QCD with three degenerate quark species, for two tricritical points in the (T, m) phase diagram at fixed imaginary chemical potential μ/T = iπ/3 mod2π/3, one in the light and one in the heavy mass regime. These represent the boundaries of the chiral and deconfinement critical lines continued to imaginary μ, respectively. It is demonst...

We propose a method to study lattice QCD at finite temperature (T) and chemical potential (μ). We compare the method with direct results and with the Glasgow method by using nf=4 QCD at Im(μ)6=0. We locate the critical endpoint (E) of QCD on the Re(μ)-T plane. We use nf=2+1 dynamical staggered quarks with semi-realistic masses on Lt=4 lattices. Our results are based on O(10 − 10) configurations...
